Aldemis

About

Operators, not observers

Aldemis is a boutique partnership. Everyone here has run the thing they are advising you on, and has been on the wrong side of at least one decision they now warn other people about.

Why we set it up

Most technology advice arrives in one of two shapes. Either it comes from a large firm, in a deck, from someone who has never carried a delivery date. Or it comes from a developer who is genuinely good but has never sat in a board meeting where the number did not add up.

The gap between those two is where businesses actually lose money. A roadmap that nobody costed. A platform decision made for engineering reasons that turns into a commercial constraint eighteen months later. A team structure that made sense at twelve people and quietly stopped working at forty.

We built Aldemis to sit in that gap. The work is deliberately senior and deliberately small — you get partners, in the room, for the whole engagement, and there is no bench of juniors doing the thinking.

How we work

We start by understanding the business, not the stack. What are you selling, to whom, at what margin, and what has to be true in eighteen months. Only then does it make sense to ask whether the technology supports that or quietly works against it.

Then we say what we actually think. If the honest answer is that the platform is fine and the problem is the commercial model, we will say that, even though it is a smaller piece of work for us.

The people you'd actually be working with

No account manager between you and the person doing the work.

Richard Ney

Founding Partner · technology

Twenty-five years in CTO and CEO seats across seventeen-plus ventures, with more than £25m raised across rounds he has personally led. Previously co-founded a stock exchange SaaS business that grew to thirty people across London and Bordeaux, and led a venture to a £30m+ valuation. Still writes code most weeks, which is why the technical questions in a first meeting tend to be specific.

The Aldemis team working together

Who we bring in

A small partnership only works if it knows its edges. Where an engagement needs depth we do not have, we bring in people we have worked with rather than improvise.

Witstock

Led by Adrian Cannon. A fractional executive management firm serving investors and portfolio companies in fintech, payments and financial services — risk, governance, regulatory and talent depth alongside ours.

Solas Compliance

Regulatory and compliance specialists. Where a build has to satisfy a regulator as well as a customer, we work alongside them rather than guessing at the requirement.

Aldemis Foundry

Our own build arm. AI-assisted development with a senior technologist attached, for when the answer to the advisory work turns out to be "build it".

Tell us what's actually going on

Thirty minutes, free, non-committal. You will get an honest view on whether this is a problem we can help with — including when the answer is no.

Prefer to send something first? A short note on where the business is and what is bothering you is plenty. We will come back with questions, not a deck.
